All About Thread Count -
Thread count has always been a mystery for
most, but it actually has a very simple explanation. Basically, thread
count is determined by measuring the number of vertical and horizontal
threads within a one inch by one inch cut of fabric. The higher the thread
count, the closer the threads are together, creating a tighter weave and a
softer “hand” or feel of the sheet.
How Much Is
Too Much? - There is no magic
number when it comes to thread count but from experience we know that TOO
MUCH is just that. True thread counts above 618 require smaller, thinner and
weaker threads to fit within that one square inch. At higher than needed
thread counts, your sheets will also become unnecessarily heavy. We
